Our client is looking for an Account Director to join their growing team in Shanghai.

Our client, a well-established agency known for creating memorable experiences, is looking for a talented professional to lead their team in Shanghai, managing large-scale automotive projects. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of managing and developing a key automotive account, focusing on the client’s exhibition program. Your strategic vision and hands-on experience will ensure every project stays on track, within budget, and exceeds client expectations. Collaborating with both internal teams and external suppliers, you’ll direct the brand strategy, messaging, and implementation while keeping a close eye on financial control. Additionally, you’ll foster client relationships and identify new business opportunities to organically grow the account.

Key Responsibilities:

* Serve as the agency’s representative for this key automotive account, driving profitable business growth in the Shanghai market.
* Act as the client lead, overseeing and managing the delivery of major live events and exhibition projects.
* Develop compelling project briefs, presentations, and proposals tailored to client needs.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships, proactively identifying further business opportunities within the account.
* Lead internal teams to ensure seamless project execution, meeting and exceeding client expectations.
* Manage project budgets from the initial brief through to final reconciliation, ensuring profitability throughout the process.
* Champion best practices and processes within the agency, driving proactive improvements.
* Collaborate with the management team to provide strategic and commercial direction across various programs of work.

Required Skills & Experience:

* Education: Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
* Leadership: Hands-on experience in leading exhibitions and live events, including press conferences and product launches.
* Client Servicing: Proven experience managing client accounts in an agency environment, building strong relationships, and becoming a trusted consultant.
* Result-Oriented: A track record of exceeding client expectations while effectively managing requirements to avoid scope creep and enhance profitability.
* Language: Native Mandarin speaker with strong working proficiency in English; excellent bilingual communication is essential for this Shanghai-based role.
* Presentation Skills: Several years of experience confidently communicating, negotiating, and presenting in both Mandarin and English.
* Scale: Experience managing large-scale budgets (over ¥10m) throughout the full project lifecycle.
* Software: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiar with project management tools such as Gantt charts and Kanban.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Proven track record of pitching and winning new work.
* Demonstrated ability to grow client relationships organically, driving profitability.
* Experience in recruiting and developing a team of high-performing professionals.
* Strong financial acumen with an understanding of P&L levers in an agency business.
* Prior experience working with automotive clients and managing auto shows.
